Gideon Brothers develops autonomous, collaborative and modular robot platforms and autonomy technologies for unstructured, indoor, human environments. Our robots are designed to assist operations in various industries. Our current team includes 9 doctors and 40 Masters of hardware and software engineering and related disciplines. We are one of the largest robotics and autonomous technologies groups in Southeast Europe. Gideon Brothers has offices in Zagreb and Osijek. We are looking for a Manipulation Engineer for our Zagreb office.

Scope of work:

In this position, you will be responsible for developing algorithms related to control of collaborative robotic manipulators working in unstructured human environments. As a part of our robot manipulation team, you will be working on fundamental and state-of-the-art algorithms. This requires a strong background in mathematics, physics and control. This position is strongly research-focused, allowing you to transfer the knowledge from the academia to the industry. You should have a general knowledge in some or all of the following fields:

  • Rigid body motion
  • Robot kinematics and dynamics
  • Trajectory planning and tracking
  • Control theory in general
  • Optimization techniques for control purposes
  • Grasping techniques
  • Estimation algorithms
  • Object recognition


  • Participation in development of control algorithms for mobile manipulator robotic systems.
  • Implementation and evaluation of existing algorithms by using open-source solutions and reading scientific papers.
  • Close collaboration with our mechanical team to specify requirements for custom developed solutions.
  • Working closely with an experienced team lead.

Required skills:

  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • Strong background in mathematics, physics and control.
  • Strong experience with Linux and Robot Operating System (ROS).
  • Fluency in MATLAB, Bash, C/C++ and Python.
  • Experience with Gazebo or other simulation environment.

Bonus points:

  • Self-organizing and self-driven person with broad experience in electrical engineering.
  • Experience with robotics in general.
  • Experience with control of robotic manipulators.


  • MSc in Robotics or Computer Science.
